Description

:
On February 18, 2024, the Spring Festival Gala of the York Mills Neighborhood Community Centre (YMCC) in North York, Toronto, was held enthusiastically. The gala opened with a traditional lion dance. In Chinese traditional culture, people use the dragon dance to pray for favorable weather, abundant harvests, and the lion dance to ward off disasters and bring peace in all endeavors. This year, being the Year of the Dragon, the dragon and lion dances were particularly magnificent. The live performances of dragon and lion dances overseas showcased the overseas Chinese community's inheritance and adherence to Chinese traditional culture, connecting each neighbor present back to their homeland in an instant. Following was the opening song and dance ""All the Good Luck Comes,"" with drums and gongs resounding, bringing New Year blessings to everyone present. After the opening song and dance, the three hosts extended New Year greetings to everyone, and Alex, the President of YMCC, delivered a speech, reviewing and summarizing the various activities and achievements of YMCC in the past year. He also looked forward to continuing to work together in the new year to create a better, harmonious, and safer community. Later, Rob, the federal member of Parliament for the area, brought Prime Minister Trudeau's greetings. For the next two hours, there were performances of singing, dancing, martial arts, cross-talk, and musical instrument performances. There was also the highly anticipated raffle draw. Over 50 different prizes filled the hotel lobby, and the continuous shouts of winning pushed the event to its climax. The organizers and committee of YMCC prepared the largest number of prizes ever, aiming for every table to have a winner, bringing smiles to everyone's faces! Finally, everyone sang the song ""Unforgettable Tonight"" together, toasting to life's vastness, toasting to the years like songs, reluctant to part, and looking forward to reunions.
