: "The Unexpected Marriage" is a historical romantic comedy directed by Xi Dao (known for "Make My Heart Smile") and starring Qi Yuchen (known for "To Our Ten Years") and Wu Junting (known for "Water Boys"). The series is adapted from the novel "Leftover Warrior Princess" by A Ci. Liu Changsheng (played by Qi Yuchen), a princess from the Fuyu Kingdom, is labeled as a "husband killer." When she reaches marriageable age, she worries about finding a husband. The emperor intends to send her to Datang to marry Prince Qin, Lyu Jing (played by Wu Junting), a fearsome warrior known for his brutality on the battlefield.
